The concept artwork above by Steve Ellis is also from the IRON MAN: FULL STEAM AHEAD pitch, which I detailed a little in the previous post. The plot centered around a monumental City of Iron, a gigantic teleforce machine, and assorted odds and ends. Personally, my favorite bit was that Virginia ‘Pepper’ Potts came up with the name ‘Iron Man’ from the draft of L. Frank Baum’s The Surprising Adventures of the Magical Monarch of Mo and His People that she was editing at the time.
It was a fun pitch to develop.
